Ex. No. 36 of 30 on Japon Impérial Édition La Roseraie, Paris 1925 Novel from 1914, without any reference to the political world situation at the time, rather a fragment of the distant past. Perhaps a broken mirror in which we recognise our dreams.

About the artist: Henri Creuzevault, born in 1905 as the son of Louis Creuzevault, began learning the bookbinding trade at an early age in his father's studio. As early as 1928, he exhibited together with his father at the Galliera Museum and received his first prize. In addition to his work as a cover designer, he began publishing books and collaborating with well-known illustrators such as Raoul Dufy. For Creuze-vault, it was important that a book was illustrated. The cover design was also based on these illustrations. His technical knowledge and his publishing experience determined his designs. He increasingly focussed on free forms of expression in contemporary art. This was also the case with his work at the 1937 World Exhibition, where he took first place. This was followed by repeated top rankings in major competitions and exhibitions. It is no wonder that he also worked for major libraries and royal houses.
