LE DÉLUGE

About the content:

Ovide: Le Déluge

Limited edition of 50 copies by the publisher Rémy Maure, Paris 1996, of which 7 copies were individually illustrated by the artist Julius Baltazar during a storm in Corsica in 1998; artist's book Ex. VII of VII.

About the artists: Jean-Paul and Colette Miguet were active from 1951-1981 and are among the best bookbinders of the second half of the 20th century. After studying bookbinding, decoration and fine arts at the Ecole Estienne in Paris, Jean-Paul joined the workshop of the National Library in 1944, where he met Colette, who carried out binding and restoration work. In 1951, they set up their own bookbinding workshop in the back of the La Renoncule bookshop in Paris. Their high-quality work ranges from purely classical bindings to contemporary creations.

They were convinced that the bookbinder should never compete with the author or illustrator with his cover design, but should only interpret their graphics and colours to perfection.
