About the artist:
Sün Evrard was born in Hungary and came to France in 1971 together with her Belgian husband Marc Evrard. Sün means ‘hedgehog’ in Hungarian and became her nickname because of her hair. From 1972-1976, she studied bookbinding at the École de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Immediately after leaving school, she was appointed as a teacher at the same school. A year later, she moved to Vésinet, to the Ateliers d'Arts Appliqués. In 1991, she founded the AIR (Association Internationale de Relieurs).
The designed cover and later the conservation of old books became increasingly important to her.
As an independent teacher, she often invents new techniques. The choice of materials is just as important to her as playing with colour tones. She never stops questioning and testing the fundamentals of her profession and her art.
