About the cover:

Fringed ribbon Brown, coarse-grained cowhide, partially roughened on the front cover. A narrow emerald green calfskin strip separates the roughened section on the front cover from the rest of the surface, simple emerald green spine title at the foot, natural edge and emerald green hand-stitched endpapers, endpapers in light green laid paper, simple slipcase with leather edging and cover like the endpapers.

No. 14 of 20 on Vélin du Marais with a suite of all engravings, 200 copies in total Éditions Manuel Bruker, 1957 The Polish-born Jew Abram Krol (1919-2001) came to France in 1938 to become an engineer. He joined the Foreign Legion in 1939 and worked as a car mechanic after the war. In 1943, he began studying art and discovered copperplate engraving and enamelling, among other things. His book illustrations, paintings and designs for murals and tapestries are recognised worldwide.

About the artist: Annick Vatant started her own business immediately after training as a bookbinder from 1979-1984 at the École de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. In the years that followed, she continued her training at the Ateliers d'Arts Appliqués (AAAV) in Le Vésinet with Florent Rousseau and Carmencho Arre-gui, among others. She later trained as a book restorer at the same place. Annick Vatant's studio is located in Saint-Etienne-sous-Bailleul, about 50 kilometres west of Paris, in Normandy. Her clients are mainly private bibliophiles.
