About the content:

Horst Wolfram Geissler: Der liebe Augustin

The story of an easy life, colour illustrations by Fritz Busse, Sanssouci-Verlag, Zurich 1948 Horst Wolfram Geissler tells the amusing and adventurous life story of ‘dear Augustin’ against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars in such a light yet captivating way that one would have liked to have met the music box maker and bon vivant oneself.

About the artist: Grew up in Zurich. 1945-1948 first bookbinder's apprentice with Albert Burkhardt, Forchstrasse 51, Zurich. Then worked for Grossenbacher, Zurich, Reliure des Arts SA, Geneva, and J.H.Waser, Limmatquai in Zurich. Further training at the Zurich School of Applied Arts and hand gilding with Hugo Peller. 1957 Federal master craftsman's examination and from 1958 part-time specialist teacher at the Zurich School for the Deaf. In 1970, he took over the long-established Louis Nabholz manual bindery on Bleicherweg in Zurich, which he ran successfully for 24 years and where he trained young professionals. He handed over the workshop to one of them, Christian Guggenheim, in 1994.

In addition to his day-to-day work, Hans Rohrer continues to be involved in various professional organisations. As a talented amateur filmmaker, he has made many attractive professional films.
