Half vellum binding with set Goat's vellum, brad with attached covers, spine title and cover decoration in various shades of grey, applied with an airbrush, openings in the fold area underlaid with dark grey water snake leather, barbered edges, orange leather endpapers, endpapers of dark blue Fabriano laid paper throughout.

A catalogue raisonné

Bookfactory by Bubu, Mönchaltorf 2017 Thorvald Henningsen (1896-1977) was one of the most talented Swiss bookbinders and one of the few who mastered design, bookbinding and gilding. The catalogue raisonné published in 2017 shows around 190 master bindings as well as his work as a specialist teacher, textbook author, teacher and his involvement in various professional committees.

About the artist: After graduating from high school, Rahel Scheufele worked as a private tutor for four children in Morocco for a year. 2009-2012 Trained as a manual binder. This was followed by two years of practical training before attending the Alois Senefelder master school in Munich. She graduated in 2015 with top marks in all subjects. As a master bookbinder, she then took over the management of the craft workshop at Bubu AG in Mönchaltorf. In addition to her great commitment to the company, she repeatedly takes part in international cover competitions with great success.

In 2020, for example, she won 1st place in the Open Set category at the Grolier Club International Competition in the USA with the cover shown here.
