Haiku

About the content:

Issa: Haiku

Éditions Verdier, Lagrasse 2007 Kobayashi Issa (1763-1827) is one of the ‘Big Four’ of Japanese haiku poetry. The poet's chosen name Issa means something like ‘a cup of tea’ or ‘a sip of tea’ and is to be understood as an expression of his modesty and simplicity.

Haiku is a traditional Japanese poetry form and is considered the shortest poetry form in the world.

About the artist: ‘For me, the Franzband is much more than just a variation of the various binding techniques. This elaborate technique allows me to work with the full range of craft skills on the one hand and to realise my creative ideas on the other. When the printed sheets are in front of me, I start, I decide and I execute.’
